About

I help teach people the skills to effectively nourish the needs of their own body.  Rather than relying on food rules and judgements, I help my clients develop confidence in their bodies.  If you want to uncover how to take care of yourself and eat the way that nature intended, free from incessant worry and obsession over numbers, then you have come to the right place!”

My Story:

I grew up in the Seattle area and at a very young age was consumed by competitive gymnastics.  Food served a purpose at that point in my life, to fuel my activity level, and when I was injured and no longer able to compete, my relationship with food changed significantly.  In high school, I excelled in math and science and wanted to be a biologist.  My first job after my undergraduate degree gave me a taste for lab work and I knew I needed to find a new career where I felt like I was making a difference and actually engaging with people around me.  I always had a passion for food and cooking and after some reflection, I was confident I could combine my love for science and food by being a Dietitian.  I had found a new career path!  After visiting Bastyr University, I was inspired by their holistic approach to nutrition and looking for the root cause of chronic disease states.  I completed the program and later the internship with flying colors and soon after the birth of my second child, I moved to Spokane with my family to escape the heavy traffic and high rises in Seattle.  I started my practice in intuitive eating and haven’t looked back!

 My Approach:

The literature speaks for itself.  My approach to nutrition and eating is grounded in evidence based research and clinical experience.  When food is stressful, it negatively impacts multiple areas of our lives and can wreak havoc on our digestion and relationships with loved ones.  Intuitive Eating gives you the tools and confidence to feed yourself the best way for you at that moment in time.  Ellyn Satter Division of Responsibility is best practice according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and for this reason, I use this approach for the families that I work with to lay the foundation for happy and confident eaters.  This method is in alignment with Intuitive Eating and fosters the development of positive skills in our youth and prevent eating problems later in life.

During our work together, you will practice the skills that connect your mind and body to learn to feed yourself in a compassionate and caring way and truly find the joy in eating.
